Tour of Dirt Section

Course Conditions on River Rd
Conditions on the dirt section of River Rd are average for the history of the race.  Potholes litter the two tracks: keep a light grip on the bars and weight off the saddle. It is possible to switch between tracks in most sections, though a layer of gravel covers the region between the two tracks. Both the entrance and exit to the dirt sectin contain more gravel than usual. It will be important to complete your turn onto River Rd before the pavement ends

(1) Approach to the turn onto River Rd from Edwards Ferry Rd. The downhill ends at the end of Edwards Ferry Rd. It is vital to complete most of the right turn before the pavement ends.

(4) The transit of River Rd is not completely straight. The road bends several times. Note the two clear tracks and the build-up of gravel along the centerline.

(6) About 1.5 km into the transit, River Rd reaches the low point, where it crosses an unnamed creek on a paved, one-lane bridge.

(7) The exit from the one-lane bridge is the most heavily gravelled section of the transit. It's all uphill from here to the exit.
